Variation in actual corn (Zea mays L.) evapotranspiration, single, and dual crop coefficient under different point source irrigation systems in a semiarid region

چکیده
Close management of irrigation could have considerable impacts on water resources, especially for cropping systems dominated by corn. The experiment was carried out to compare the influence porous capsule (PCI), surface drip (DI), and subsurface (SDI) systems, with or without mulching, actual evapotranspiration (ETc act), crop coefficients (Kc single Kc dual), biomass yield, use efficiency (WUE) corn in a semiarid region Iran. arranged split-plot design three assigned main plots two mulching (with foil type) treatments (M1 M2) sub-plots. ETc act varied significantly (P < 0.05) different being (mm) 389.8 PCI, 377.0 DI, 372.8 SDI. highest average Kcb (0.82 1.22) lowest Ke (0.12) were observed under PCI system. dry wet biological yields (29.98 107 t/ha) + M1 treatment, (23.19 58.54 t/ha, respectively) DI M2 treatment. WUE (7.89 kg/m3) also treatment; produced best IWUE comparison SDI systems. Accordingly, system be viable alternative areas scarce particularly smallholder farmers.

Corn yield responses under crop evapotranspiration-based irrigation management
Improving irrigation water management is becoming important to produce a profitable crop in South Texas as the water supplies shrink. This study was conducted to investigate grain yield responses of corn (Zea mays) under irrigation management based on crop evapotranspiration (ETC) as well as a possibility to monitor plant water deficiencies using some of physiological and environmental factors....
متن کاملPartitioning of Cotton Field Evapotranspiration under Mulched Drip Irrigation Based on a Dual Crop Coefficient Model
Estimation of field crop evapotranspiration (ETc) and its partitioning into evaporation and transpiration, are of great importance in hydrological modeling and agricultural water management. In this study, we used a dual crop coefficient model SIMDualKc to estimate the actual crop evapotranspiration (ETc act) and the basal crop coefficients over a cotton field in Northwestern China. A two-year ...
متن کاملCover crop effects on the fate of N in sweet maize (Zea mays L. saccharata Sturt.) production in a semiarid region
This research aimed to determine the effects of different cover crops and application ofbio-fertilizer on dynamic of nitrogen in the soil and sweet maize yield. Also, we evaluated theeffect of fall–winter species (common vetch, field pea, winter oats, fodder kale) and a mixtureof vetch and field pea with oats used as cover crops, as such as dead organic mulch andtraditional variant, without cov...
متن کاملEvaluation of the impact of surface residue cover on single and dual crop coefficient for estimating soybean actual evapotranspiration
Single and dual crop coefficient methods are used in conjunction with grass reference evapotranspiration (ETo) to estimate actual crop evapotranspiration (ETc). However, the impact of soil surface residue cover on the accuracy of ETc estimated with these methods is not well understood. The objective of this study is to evaluate and compare the accuracy of the FAO-56 single crop coefficient (sin...
متن کاملHealth Benefits of Purple Corn (Zea mays L.) Phenolic Compounds
Purple corn (Zea mays L.), a grain with one of the deepest shades in the plant kingdom, has caught the attention of the food industry as it could serve as a source for alternatives to synthetic colorants. Also being rich in phenolic compounds with potential health-promoting properties, purple corn is becoming a rising star in the novel ingredients market. Although having been widely advertised ...
